Swissmedic: Incomplete information on perforated blister packs
Swissmedic announced that, as part of its market surveillance, it had identified cases of incompletely printed blister packs on the Swiss market. Swissmedic pointed out that, according to Chapter 5.4.1 of its guidelines on the packaging of human medicinal products (document link), the perforation of blisters is only permitted if all the information is printed on each individual pocket. Each individual pocket must clearly display the name of the medicinal product, the lot number, the expiration date (EXP), and, if applicable, the dosage strength. To ensure the safety of medicinal products, Swissmedic has urged marketing authorization holders to review the artwork templates for perforated blisters in their product lines.
