FOPH: Modification of the Medicinal Products Licensing Ordinance
The Federal Council has decided to amend the Medicinal Products Licensing Ordinance (MPLO) to allow international organizations headquartered in Switzerland to import non-authorized medicinal products for their personnel under certain conditions. This includes products such as vaccines for employees of the United Nations and its specialized agencies.
The modification will eliminate the previous discrepancy between Swiss medicinal product law and the privileges granted under seat agreements. The new regulation, which will come into effect on 15 March 2025, will allow international organizations to import medicinal products for internal use, benefiting organizations like the United Nations and its specialized agencies that wish to provide specific vaccinations to their staff.
