FOPH: Budget cuts lead to the renunciation of certain tasks
The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) is affected by the austerity measures adopted by the Federal Council and Parliament. During implementation, care will be taken to ensure that work and basic services in strategic areas such as digitalisation, cost containment and security of supply, as well as the surveillance and control of communicable diseases, continue to be facilitated.
However, from 2026 onwards, the FOPH will only be able to carry out certain tasks only to a limited extent or will have to abandon them altogether. These include the database for pediatric medicine (SwissPedDose), the continuation of the master plan for biomedical research, prevention in the workplace, prevention in healthcare and equal opportunities in health.
