Swissmedic: Information on adverse drug reaction during treatment with a sartan and an NSAID
Swissmedic has informed about an adverse drug reaction (ADR) of an elderly female patient during a treatment with a sartan and an NSAID. Sartans and NSAIDs can contribute to hyperkalaemia due to their distinct mechanisms of action. The combination of several medicinal products that can cause hyperkalaemia increases the risk of this adverse reaction. It is particularly important to note this risk if other factors that could promote hyperkalaemia are present.
