FOPH: Second stage of the nursing care initiative – Federal Council submits dispatch to Parliament on improving working conditions
At its meeting on 21 May 2025, the Federal Council adopted two legislative proposals to implement the second stage of the initiative ‘For strong nursing care (nursing initiative)’ (Für eine starke Pflege (Pflegeinitiative)). The first stage, which aims to promote training, came into force in mid-2024.
The aim is to improve working conditions in the care sector and thereby strengthen care as an important pillar of healthcare. To this end, the Federal Council has drafted a new federal law that improves working conditions in the care sector. The Federal Council also wants to improve career development opportunities for nursing professionals by amending the Health Professions Act.
