FOPH: Roundtable “Cost containment in healthcare” meets for the second time
The Roundtable on cost containment in healthcare, established by Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, has met for the second time. Participants included representatives of the cantons, the medical profession, the hospitals, the health insurances, the pharma industry, the patient organisations, the scientific community as well as the price regulator. The work of the expert group, which is currently working on concrete measures on cost containment, was found to be going to plan. The measures are set to be adopted at the third roundtable at the end of October 2025.
The aim of the roundtable is to develop new measures that can be implemented in the short and medium term to curb the rise in healthcare costs, promote cooperation between stakeholders and involve them more closely in discussions on ongoing reforms. A group of experts prepares the measures between roundtable meetings.
