Swissmedic: Faster processing of applications for clinical trials
In order to promote innovation and ensure that patients have faster access to new, potentially life-saving treatments, Swissmedic is introducing the fast-track application procedure as a pilot project. With this new procedure, processing of initial applications should be accelerated and innovative treatments reach patients sooner without comprising on safety.
As the core of the project, studies with medicines for which a high medical need exists should be prioritised. The new procedure also includes reducing the review period. However, ensuring the safety of study participants remains the top priority of Swissmedic and all regulatory requirements will still be met. The pilot project will run until the end of 2026.
