FOPH: Rejection of Proposal for a Fee for Treatment in Hospital Emergency Departments
The Federal Council has concluded that a fee for treatment in hospital emergency departments would not relieve the burden on said departments. This conclusion comes as a response to the report published by the National Council’s Social Security and Health Committee on the parliamentary initiative “Fee for minor cases in hospital emergency departments”. The bill would give cantons the authority to levy a surcharge of up to CHF 50 on the patient’s excess for each consultation at a hospital emergency department. However, the Federal Council proposes not to consider the bill.
